Louise Satturley

The early stages of interest in photography was as a teenager taking lots of photos of ducks etc. on the Norfolk Broads with my family.

My dad and granddad always had cameras with them on all our holidays together.  I think that’s where the interest probably started. As years went on it was just holiday photos or family ones I would take.

Then on to motor bike shows where I have a very  big collection of photos.

My dad joined the Selsey camera club a few years ago and persuaded me to join to advance my photography.

I have been a member for 3 years now.

I’ve had lots of compact film cameras and digital ones. I then moved on to a Canon bridge camera.

Last year I bought myself a second-hand Nikon D80 SLR so hopefully I can now get more out of my photos.

Let’s see how it goes!

If you could photograph anything what would it be?

I’m not sure what I would really like to take as I like taking all photos. Maybe fast moving objects - to get a subject in sharp focus but with a blurred background so you can see the speed in the photo. I’ve  taken one photo like this by accident and never knew how I did it.  I loved the effect.

Since joining the camera club what have you learned that you didn’t know before?

I have learned when taking a photo to place yourself in the correct position to take the best photo you can and to avoid distractions that can be picked up in the photo which could spoil the overall image. Also by talking to members I have learned more about my settings on the camera.

What is it you like about taking photographs?

Not sure really, I suppose  it’s nice to look back at what I have achieved to get better photos over time.

Also it’s a history and memories, like family and events etc., of what I like taking - plus I really enjoy it.
