Chichester Rugby Match Field Trip

The clubs third field trip took place on March 16th to photograph a local rugby match at Oaklands Park in Chichester. The weather wasn’t ideal however it didn’t rain during the match and only started once the final whistle had blown. Unfortunately the trip wasn’t well attended as only three members turned up to photograph the action which is a shame as sport photography is a good way to help understand the relevance of shutter speed as well as, focus modes and finding a favourable view point pitch side.

A good range of emotions was seen on the player’s faces during a match and this along with tackles, line outs and scrums provided plenty of things to shoot both near and far on the pitch so you didn’t need large lenses to join it the fun.

Practical events like this are a great opportunity to push both the limits of your camera and skill. It's also a great way to work together with other photographers, whether that's getting help with your camera settings, or getting inspiration to try something new.

The next field trip is planned for April 2024 to photograph the bluebells in local woodland. Once they appear a proposed trip date will be announced. It will once again provide another occasion to practice and perhaps learn or try something new with your camera or camera phone.
